We Need Diversity … in Transportation !

Cars are useful as work tools. Delivery vans, work trucks, reaching remote areas of the country. However, there needs to be an equally invested in public transportation method in and between cities. There is no reason to limit the amount of transportation methods that we have in a country.

For example, we have the crisis that occurred in Texas, when the SouthWest Airline system went down during Christmas. There were thousands of people that couldn’t get home in time for a major holiday. If only there was an alternate method between cities (especially close cities) that would facilitate more resource efficient travel.

I’m always in awe about how basic and fast train links between major cities don’t exist. Doesn’t it seem like a failure on the government? Aren’t we a first world country?

Think… rail between Houston, Austin, and Dallas. Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Rochester, New York. So much of our country was built on rail before cars. The consistent and easy travel between these cities would improve the economy. If rail provided a faster alternative to cars, then surely tourism would increase.

For example, rail in Ohio (Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus). All three of these cities have major colleges. Wouldn’t it be convenient if there was a consistent and easy rail link between these cities for students to reach their family and friends? Columbus doesn’t have an MLB or an NFL team .. what if you could easily go downtown to Cincinnati or Cleveland to enjoy a sports game without worrying about traffic, parking, or drinking too much? Seems reasonable to me …

China did it, right? What, are we less developed than they are?
